Mission and Vision

Southside Christian Homeschool Academy is a group of Christian educators organized to provide credit-worthy high school and middle school classes to home schooled students.

We also operate the Friends of SCHA co-op for K-5th grade students.

Curricula

We are offering the following classes for the 2011/2012 school year:

Parent Teachers or Outside Instructors?

All of our high school and middle school courses are taught by experienced, degreed Christian teachers. High school and middle school parents are not required to volunteer,

Tuition
            $320 for a year long high school class ($80 quarterly payments to teacher)
            $160 for a semester long high school class ($80 quarterly payments to teacher)
            $240 for a year long middle school class ($60 quarterly payments to teacher)   
            $160 for a year long 1 hour class ($40 quarterly payments to teacher)
 
            SCHA Fees (Due at time of registration)
·        $65 per family for facilities and administration fee ($50.00 if only registering for K-5th co-op)
·        $20 per middle school/high school child for accidental medical and general liability insurance.
·        $13 per Kindergarten to 5th Grade co-op student for accidental medical and general liability insurance.

 

The K-5th grade co-op classes are taught by parent volunteers, and all participating parents are required to volunteer to teach a class, assist with a class, or monitor study hall/lunch.

Meeting Times

Each high school class meets for 2 hours per week on either Mondays or Thursdays. Middle school classes meet for 1 and 1/2 hours on Thursdays, and the K-5th co-op classes meet on Thursdays.

Monday Academy Classes: Spanish 2 (9:30 - 11:20 AM), Freshman Composition (9:30 - 11:20 AM), Algebra (9:30 - 11:20 AM), Chemistry (11:50 - 1:40 PM), Physics(11:50 - 1:40), Spanish 1 (11:50 - 1:40 PM), Consumer Math (1:50 - 3:40 PM), Biology (1:50 - 3:40 PM), Geometry (1:50 - 3:40 PM)

Thursday Academy Classes: World Literature and Composition (9:30 - 11:20 AM), Government/Economics (9:30 - 11:20 AM), General Science (11:30- 1:00 PM), World History (11:50 - 1:40 PM), U.S. History ( 11:50 - 1:40 PM), WriteShop Composition (1:05 - 2:35 PM), Health - fall (1:50 - 3:40 PM), Psychology - spring (1:50 - 3:40 PM), Speech - fall (1:50 - 3:40 PM), Drama/Theater - spring (1:50 - 3:40 PM), Middle School Spanish (2:40 - 3:40 PM)

Our school year begins on August 11, 2011 and ends on May 17, 2012
