Name
CHAT (Christian Homeschool Assoc. of/for Teens)
Mission and Vision

CHAT is a Christian group in attitude and life, however we do not promote or express any individual church's or group's beliefs. Member's actions within the group should reflect our desire to live and treat each other in a Christlike manner. We feel that spiritual training is the family's right and responsibility, not CHAT's.

CHAT is primarily a social group, however we also will offer educational opportunities, classes, or field trips as they are arranged by our members, as long as the activity fits with the above criteria.

Christian music, or music without any words, will be played at official CHAT events--the exception being at ballroom dance activities, where ballroom specific music may be played.

CHAT is a member run group. This means that the coordinator is not responsible to arrange for or chaperone activities. The member who organizes the activity is responsible. They may ask any responsible parent to chaperone, including the coordinator. The coordinator may ask members to arrange activities for the group.  To avoid schedule conflicts, all activities must be coordinated through the CHAT Coordinator.

All CHAT activities must have the approval of the coordinator and/or the CHAT Parent Committee to be called an official CHAT event and to be listed in the CHAT e-mails.

. CHAT event notification to the group as a whole is to be done only by the CHAT Calendar Coordinator. Because of this, details for all planned CHAT activities must be submitted to the coordinator

Membership

CHAT is for homeschool students only, age 13 yrs. through high school seniors, with exceptions for graduated homeschool students made on a case by case basis. Once a homeschool alumni marries, they are no longer a part of CHAT; even if they fit the age limits.

*CHAT has a $10.00 per year (from our CHAT Spring Ball to Spring Ball--this year's was on May 2nd, after which dues come up again) dues to be paid for each family (no limit on number of teens per family).

*We ask that for the "CHAT only" activities you please do not bring non-homeschool friends or siblings as guests, but keep it strictly homeschoolers of the right age for CHAT. These 'CHAT only' events are clearly marked in the Calendar. Many of the Calendar events are open to both CHAT and to the public. Non-homeschoolers can come to these events.  If you have a friend who is currently in public school; but who plans to homeschool in the fall, then they may start attending CHAT events in June, after their public school lets out for the year. Not until.
