Name
CHAT (Christian Homeschool Assoc. of/for Teens)
Membership

CHAT is for homeschool students only, age 13 yrs. through high school seniors, with exceptions for graduated homeschool students made on a case by case basis. Once a homeschool alumni marries, they are no longer a part of CHAT; even if they fit the age limits.

*CHAT has a $10.00 per year (from our CHAT Spring Ball to Spring Ball--this year's was on May 2nd, after which dues come up again) dues to be paid for each family (no limit on number of teens per family).

*We ask that for the "CHAT only" activities you please do not bring non-homeschool friends or siblings as guests, but keep it strictly homeschoolers of the right age for CHAT. These 'CHAT only' events are clearly marked in the Calendar. Many of the Calendar events are open to both CHAT and to the public. Non-homeschoolers can come to these events.  If you have a friend who is currently in public school; but who plans to homeschool in the fall, then they may start attending CHAT events in June, after their public school lets out for the year. Not until.

Name
GRACE Homeschoolers
Membership

Membership in the Grace Home School Group is open to any bible believing Christian who is willing to agree to sign our group covenant:

We acknowledge the Sovereignty and Lordship of Jesus Christ, for we recognize that it is only through Christ, that we are able to raise up Godly children.

We will purpose to raise up a remnant, a generation in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. (Eph 6:4)

We will conduct ourselves in our homes & in public in a manner which glorifies Christ (Heb 13:7, Eph 5:1)

We will disciple our children, according to 2 Peter 1:5:

5. … giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;  6. And to knowledge  self-control; and to self-control perseverance; and to perseverance godliness;  7. And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love.  8. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We will train up our children in the way they should go, beginning with our own example of conduct and discipline in the faith. (Prov 22:6)

We will support and encourage one another and willingly help others embark on the journey of home schooling. (Heb 10:24)

We will keep the confidences of this group private.  We will respect one another’s privacy and not allow information shared by any participant to become gossip.

Name
Harbor Homeschool Group of Greater Martinsville
Membership
What does Harbor membership involve?

Currently, there is no "formal" membership process to be involved in the Harbor.  Family Information sheets are filled out at the first attended meeting.  We are a relatively new support group.  Some things, such as the membership process, are still "in the works."  We do currently ask that each participating family donate a small amount (about $20/yr.) to the church at which we meet to cover the expenses the church assumes for us meeting there.  We do ask that at least one parent/grandparent attend the group meetings with their child(ren).  The Harbor is volunteer fueled.  We rely on parents to help with various aspects of the group as God has gifted them.  We ask that some parents teach, some assist, some help with little ones, etc.  The Harbor is a Christ-centered group.  Those who teach and instruct the group must do so in a way that would glorify God and line up with Biblical principles.

Group Size

The Harbor is currently averaging 14-18 families per week.  This translates into a group size (including adults) of anywhere between 45 to 75.   Many more families are part of the Harbor email group.  Some of these families occasionally participate in special activities and field trips.
